We're looking for trustees
Wedmore Opera is a charitable incorporated organisation, governed by a Board of Trustees. This is an unpaid role for people who love live music and are excited by the idea of creating “excellent opera in a village setting”.
As Trustees, we have one eye on the present and one on the future. We are responsible for ensuring that Wedmore Opera does what it was set up to do and complies with the laws and regulations that apply to all charities.
We manage the finances and make sure that the money we earn and raise from donors, ticket sales and grants is used well. We support the creative team for each production to do their jobs and if we have practical skills (set building, marketing, welcoming the audience) we offer them. At all times the Trustees act as a team and in the best interests of Wedmore Opera.
We are looking for one more Trustee to join us in the coming year. If this sounds interesting to you, we would love to hear from you. Experience of working in the cultural sector (in any capacity), of being on the board of another charity, skills in financial management and good local connections will be particularly useful.
You need to be at least 16 to be a Trustee. Since it takes a while to bed in to any organisation, we are looking for people who think they can probably commit for three years. This is the ideal, not a deal breaker.
For an initial conversation with one of the Trustees, please email us at wofigaro@gmail.com and we will come straight back to you to arrange a time to speak. Thank you.
